As we arrived, the ocean breeze blew through my six-year-old locks of hair. The car windows were down, giving an invitation to the salty, sulfury air. Moist sea mist was all around. I breathed the air in slow and deep. Wow, I had never smelled anything like it, nor felt the feeling of that warm, unusually sticky air. Was I in paradise? I more than fondly remember the first time that magical southern shore air softly kissed my wide-eyed, wonder-struck "Julie Bird" face. My open and innocent soul had fallen in love, truly for the first time. The sea, the great wide-open, full of unusual and even dangerous, but beautiful creatures, was imprinted on my heart and soul for life. The impact of the experience would be hard to match. I was never the same. My spirit had been transformed into an ocean child. The white from my new tennis shoes beamed off of my little tan legs. Guided by the sunlight, I remember having a supernatural pep in my step. The southern sunlight had given me such easy, breezy confidence; it was tough to explain, not to mention the fact that its warmth calmed every fear and frustration my little six-year-old body could feel. The first natural highlights to my long brown hair joyfully became a welcomed new part of my forever-style and one that I, still today, refuse to part with. I humorously claim that I'm "blonder than I pay to be."

Walt Disney. Disney World. Mickey Mouse. Minnie Mouse. Sand dunes. Little pink houses "for you and me." Sand Pipers. Sailboats. Hobie Cats. Chlorine. Coconut smells. Swallowed saltwater. Suntan oils. Swimming pools. Sun-bathin' and Moon-dancin'. Dressing up fancy for dinner at night just to show off your new tan. Ferris wheels, with views of the ocean. Pink, yellow, lime green, and aqua blue houses, accented with bold and tawdry, kitschy colors. Houses with names? Well, those realities awed me, as a child. Today they validate me. They changed me, with their bold, fancy, and lusciously luxurious, creative audacities. How dare there be more color in this world than necessary. Ha! This early experience sent me into mental, emotional, and visual thrills. Later it would not only heighten my bright and lively imagination but also sharpen my spirituality by serendipitous validations of a powerful, yet loving Creator, too much to explain. Since that sweet-as-candy early childhood experience, for life, I have felt the entire and constant healing and renewal brought on by the properties of living and traveling on one of the earth's most majestic coastlines, The Florida and Alabama Gulf Coast. The inspiration nailed down one thing for "shore," the coastal life was the life for me … Someday I would find my own bold, whimsy-filled, and what some would call a daring life, spilling over with tribes of color and a cozy little cabana to go with it. I would find it and I'd ensure it was forever there to stay.

So while you are on your own steal away, resting on these crystal shores, my warm circle and I wish you rich, yellow sunlight and glowing beams of moonshine (the kind you find in the sky), so bright that they will stick with you and yours, like coastal magic, for all of forever. Should you decide that you also want to nest yourself along the coast, as many other birds do, I'd be more than obliged to spot you the perfect nest (a vacation home and-or a real estate property, or two .. )

Cabana Julz & Company

Vacation Villa

A 1997 graduate of Belmont University, Nashville, Tennessee, I offer over two decades of real estate sales and luxury interior design experience. My joy is found in partnering with real estate investors to procure lucrative long and short-term real estate opportunities from Gulf Shores, Alabama to SEASIDE, Florida. In addition I refer business consistently to my home state of Tennessee.

Subsequently, my delight is in transforming dull, dated, disorganized spaces into airy, energetic, compelling, and poetic atmospheres, especially in the vacation and coastal real estate world. My past experience also includes morphing mundane commercial office settings into modern, up-to-date engaging industry platforms.

As a double-decade experienced real estate broker, studio artist, and designer, I have a persistent drive for cash-flow producing coastal real estate ventures as well as for the ongoing curation of lively, appetizing, and inspiring interior dwellings transforming them into warm and life-giving, hope-bearing sanctuaries.

HIGHLIGHTS OF MY CAREER

Creating the design finish schedule for Taylor Swift’s Hangar in Nashville, Tennessee (via J & S Construction)

The complete renovation design and finish schedule for what is thought to be the oldest 20th Century Mission Style home in my birthplace, Cookeville, Tennessee, built by Jere Whitson as a dowry for his daughter. This is the present home of my very close friends, Sheila Beazley Bush Driller & Dennis Driller. I was hired by them to be a part of their dream home.
